INTRODUCTION

Montara is a city that does not stand still—it is always being built. Carved into the cliffs, its streets are not paved with stone but lined with molten rivers of ore, glowing like veins of fire in the mountain’s heart.

To the Tactilians, creation is sacred. Every structure in Montara is temporary, destined to be reforged, reshaped, and rebuilt. The city itself is alive, constantly forming anew.

A FORGE WITHOUT END

At the heart of Montara lie the Sky-Forges, massive platforms suspended over molten flows, where smiths shape metal as naturally as others shape clay. Here, touch is the truest sense—Tactilian artisans rely not on sight but on feel, shaping blades, tools, and structures with hands that read the metal like a second language.

Apprentices work in near darkness, learning to sense the strength of steel through heat and pressure rather than sight. To forge without touch is to forge blindly.

THE SACRED BASIN – THE RITUAL OF COOLING

One of the most revered traditions in Montara is the Ritual of Cooling. When a great weapon or structure is completed, it is submerged in the Sacred Basin, where molten heat meets icy water, creating a steam that Tactilians believe carries the spirit of the creation into the world.

Some claim they can see the future reflected in the steam—visions of battles, cities yet to rise, and legacies waiting to be forged.

THEORIES AND INTERPRETATIONS

Montara’s molten rivers and endless forges have led to many interpretations:

  • A City That Shapes Itself: Some believe Montara is alive, forging its own evolution, remaking itself in response to the will of its people.

  • A Cycle Without End: Others see the city as a metaphor for existence—nothing is ever finished, only transformed.

  • The Hidden Blueprint: Occulan scholars claim that the city follows an unseen pattern, as if Montara itself remembers what it is meant to become.

FIRST-HAND ACCOUNTS OR RECORDED LEGENDS

“In Montara, you do not build for eternity. You build for the next moment.”—Drenn Kaelor, Master Smith

“When the steam rises from the Sacred Basin, you see more than heat. You see destiny.”—Toraan Velk, Tactilian Artisan

“Metal has memory. It remembers the hands that shaped it.”—Renna Vos, Montaran Scholar

CONCLUSION

Montara is a city where the past is melted down, reshaped, and forged into the future. Its people do not fear change—they embrace it, shaping the world with their own hands.

To a Tactilian, nothing is ever truly finished. Everything is waiting to be reforged.
